The Programme (age 8-9)
This is the traditional age for children to start fencing. At this age children are mentally and physically developed to a reasonable standard. This is why they will be able to grasp the discipline needed in fencing and the fundamentals of fencing skills. But in a sport like fencing, where mind and body work together and the demand for skill is high, it is important to teach and prepare the child. This is why children at this age will enter the club at a beginner level. This is the club's Level 1.
Part of their programme at this level is the chance of a mini competition to give them a gentle introduction to full fencing.
Club fees
Your club fee is £58 per month. If you pay annually this is equivalent to £49 per month.
Fencing Kit
In this level there will be minimal use of fencing kit and therefore they are not required to buy any of their own. Any kit needed for the sessions is provided by the club.
How to start (2012 special)
In 2012 the Academy Musketeers Club is focusing to develop this age-group. This is why we are running a special 3 month beginner course for new children and girls get a 50% subsidy on their beginner course fees. To get started you will firstly book onto a 3 months beginner course after which you can sign up to the club programme. The beginner course costs £130 for all three months. All kit will be provided. All you need is trainers, tracksuit bottoms, a t-shirt, a jumper
and a bottle of water.
